Happy new year! I don’t know about you, but I’m SO ready to leave 2016 behind. I think it may have been one of the crappiest years so far in my 30 years on this earth. I’d like to say I’m hopeful for a better 2017, but there are a lot of unknowns ahead, so we’ll have to just wait and see what happens. However, there is one thing I’m super excited about for this year that I’ve been waiting to announce for six months….
I’M ATTENDING YOGA TEACHER TRAINING!!
I’m finally taking the steps to be able to teach the practice I’ve come to love over the last four years. It has been a long-term goal of mine to become a yoga instructor, but I never thought I was ready or advanced enough. But in talking with my instructors, who have been very supportive, I realized that now is the perfect time to fulfill this dream. You don’t have to be an expert yogi, and there’s really no point in waiting to accomplish a goal that you’re passionate about, because life is really freakin’ short. I applied back in July and got accepted later in the summer. My 200-hour training starts in February and ends in September, at which point I will be a certified instructor!
I’ll be attending YTT at Bella Vita Yoga (at the NoDa Yoga studio) and practicing under two very skilled instructors. I plan to document my entire journey with monthly blog posts until my training ends. While teaching yoga is certainly the end goal, I’m also doing this for myself. Yoga has been a constant in my life amidst all of my mental health and personal issues, especially throughout the last year. It’s one of the few things that has kept me grounded and stable. Attending this training will not only help me to grow and deepen my own practice, but maybe even transform my life. And I imagine I’ll meet some really awesome fellow students in the process.
Those who know me (even a little bit) know my love of yoga, and I always share the benefits of it to anyone who asks…or doesn’t 🙂 I’m beyond excited for this next step and to accomplish something so empowering. I can’t wait to share my yoga adventures with you in the coming months!
